Part of the R4 Connections Webinar Series.

People who live, work, and play in the most polluted environments are commonly people of color, indigenous, and low-income. EPA's environmental justice (EJ) goal is to provide an environment where all people enjoy the same degree of protection from environmental and health hazards and equal access to the decision-making process to maintain a healthy environment.

In the first 30 minutes, we will hear from Corbin Darling, the Environmental Justice Coordinator at the US EPA's Region 8 Office in Denver, where he will provide an overview of key EJ concepts and definitions, a discussion of the EJ priority within EPA and the Federal government, and an introduction to EPA's EJ screening and mapping tool; EJScreen.

Corbin Darling is the Environmental Justice Coordinator at the US EPA's Region 8 Office in Denver, CO. In that role, he works to facilitate the Office's efforts to protect environment and public health in minority, low-income, tribal and other vulnerable communities by integrating environmental justice in all programs, policies and activities. Corbin has thirty-nine years of environmental management, environmental compliance, and occupational health and safety management experience, both in the regulated community and as a Federal regulator. He has been with EPA for 32 years and has served in a variety of staff and management positions. He holds a Master's degree in environmental engineering and a Bachelors in chemical engineering. Corbin is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in environmental engineering in the State of Colorado.

Following the presentation and Q&A, there will be an open meeting for members interested in meeting with or asking Region 4 team members questions.
